Boost pressure - matfield - 01-27-2016 Hi, I wanted to know peoples experiences with the 606 and boost pressures for smoke free daily driving. I'm working on plans and have a VGT turbo on my current vehicle that is getting 1.4 bar of boost from 1800rpm. I understand that there are a LOT of variables that go into fueling and boost, but what are people running, and with which elements, and what kind of power is being produced. For my application, as little smoke as possible, and a even spread of power and torque are more important that having huge power past 3000rpm. Thanks Mat RE: Boost pressure - seanyt - 01-27-2016 what vgt are you using, mine has a he351ve and it doesnt feel too laggy at present but thats with 8mm pump free exhaust etc. it is a little smokey when you jump on it though. i did have the stock turbo with a remap and it made good power with little smoke RE: Boost pressure - matfield - 01-27-2016 I'm not 100% sure what the VGT is, but I know its about 50% larger than the stock 606 turbo. I was originally thinking about 300hp but now having driven other vehicles like mine, 200hp will give me what I want, and reduce driveline strain. RE: Boost pressure - seanyt - 01-28-2016 What elements have you got in your pump. Stock 606 turbo and electric pump. Would see 200hp easily and with good spool. RE: Boost pressure - m1tch - 01-28-2016 I think I measured my OM606.962 with the stock turbo and stock 6mm elements at between 14 to 18psi. RE: Boost pressure - matfield - 01-28-2016 I don't have ant elements, or even an engine yet. If I could get 200hp with the stock turbo and pump I'd be laughing. The main problem would be making the engine run stand alone with the electronic pump. Thanks for the replies lads! The main problem would be making the engine run stand alone with the electronic pump. You can get around 215bhp with a remap on the stock turbo and injectors, you can go slightly higher but the injection duration gets a bit long, the engine should be at around 177bhp as stock, the turbo is massively undersized for the engine - usually found on 1.9L-2L diesels. There is a mechanical lift pump on the side of the injection pump, you just need a 1 bar feed to the pump - its low pressure, there are ways to bypass the solenoid if needed though. Are you going to go with the EDC pump as standard (meaning you need the ECU and loom) or are you going to go OM603 mechanical? RE: Boost pressure - atypicalguy - 01-31-2016 I was interested in 200hp and Alcaid suggested mhi td05-16L small with a 10cm I think. It is buried somewhere on this forum. He can get you one or like 650 usd. Might have been the 19 though, so double check. |
