Re: 4-wheel SLS - Biocruzer - 02-28-2016 Hi, all. It may be a dumb question, but I'm wondering if anyone has experimented with putting SLS on the front end of a W123, too. If it makes such a great difference to the rear, could it work for all 4 wheels? I remember driving Citroens back when, and the hydro-pneumatique suspension was self-levelling, active (corner levelling), and manually adjustable for height. Bit quirky, but that's Citroens - maybe teutonic engineers put it in the too-hardt basket, but it could be an interesting project... Cheers Graham RE: Re: 4-wheel SLS - NZScott - 02-28-2016 I was interested in doing this too at one stage. The 6.9 W116 had it on all fours and so did some 190s I believe. I was wondering if (or how it would compare to) air bag suspension kits, which to me would be hell of a lot cheaper to do than say the W109 factory air bag system and the $$$ that costs in parts. RE: Re: 4-wheel SLS - Dark Hawk - 03-03-2016 Ya when I saw the title to this thread what immateriality came to mind was air bags. RE: Re: 4-wheel SLS - zacharias - 06-27-2016 This was actually available as a factory option on w123s, though it's extremely rare and usually seen in Europe. I have only seen one car so equipped here. It went through one of the high-end Los Angleles dealers on eBay many years ago. It was a black sedan and appeared to be NA spec. I have no idea if a front SLS setup could be adapted to the existing mount setup or if mods or additional parts would be required. |
