EDS module on MPump superpump? - mike89011 - 08-18-2016
So I'm going to be putting together my own OM606 superturbodiesel with the om603 M pump, and the 7.5mm elements.
Apparently though, the OM603 uses an Electronic Diesel System (EDS) module to stabilize idle, and I'm wondering if there is any role for this on an OM606 with the OM603 pump?
Anybody found it to work, or should it just go in the trash bin?

The electroactuator in the 603 pump, has many functions related to idling.... usually a 603 pump will not idle a 606 very well.
But is something u have to live with unless u can steal a controler from a vehicle wich uses a 603.
Anyhow it will all depend on the pump builder, and how familiar he is with the RSF governor, But basically the electroactuator is used to stabilize idle in normal conditions, increase idle speed for cold start, T/off aid , increase idle for A/C , lights , winter heating and so on...
anything else just scream....

is this module on the N/A om606 which uses the rs203 mechanical pump or is it only on the om603..
is these any instructions around for what is needed and how to wire it in to get it working.

From my experience many pumps use those modules... not sure about the rs 203.
This device is related to idle quality!!! In some aplications this is not a problem. A good solution for those is a governor from a 5 cyl pump with pneumatic idle increase and without elr.

It works ok without any electronics, rpm may go down and up a little when AC clutch is engaging but without AC there's no problem when engine is warm. Without electronics on cold start (freezing temperatures -10C and colder) you may need to hold throttle for a few seconds for normal idle. Older models have the same system with vacuum and it is just for cold start.
