om606 G Starting problems - wouter - 09-26-2016

hello

i'm new here so bare with me

i recently completed my om606 8mm pump with hx35w project

i got the pump from Dpumpuk and also the exhaust manifold

runs great pulls like a dream whit a g250 manual trans (i know it will not hold for long)
used the clutch of the same car had the disc layed with copper

now here is the problem  Angry

when i start it starts very nicely but after 5seconds it dies
and to restart it takes a lot glowing and starting to get it running again

any thoughts ?

sorry for my bad english i'm from belgium  Tongue

And... When it runs again.. does it run well ?

2nd question: where in BE do you live? Wink

RE: om606 G Starting problems - wouter - 09-27-2016

yes when it runs again it runs great

merksplas near turnhout

RE: om606 G Starting problems - Evgeniy1987 - 09-27-2016

For me.. it is like you are having a minor leak somewhere, and then get some air in your system.

(Heerlen - Turnhout is 110 km.. we might visit each other one day)

RE: om606 G Starting problems - wouter - 09-27-2016

that was my first thought too so i put some check valvs on the fuel lines no change
and the pump is totaly dry

(looking forward to it Big Grin)

I am not very sure whether the inline-pumps have it, but the VP in my Scirocco has it:

a 0.55 mm banjo bolt at the return from the pump to cause internal pressure in the pump...

Not that you accidentally mounted a wrong one or a too big one or something ?

Would is be easy for you to try it with an electrical pump ? Just to be sure that the mechanical lift pump is not the problem. (if you don't have it already)

RE: om606 G Starting problems - wouter - 09-27-2016

it does have a presure banjo bolt have replaced it already dpumpuk thought that was the problem too
but no change  i also have instaled a presure valve on the return line right after the banjo bolt
it opens at 1.2bar again no change

by electrical pump  u meen the lift pump of the elec pump ?

i have switched out the mech lift pump (whit the hose fitting and treads)
had a spare one sitting on a 603mech pump but again no change

was thinking of instaling a lift pump at the tank as its the 463tank (plastic) it has the mounts to place one from the 230ge and i have a lift pump some where :p
i'll try that see if it helps or not

Not your shutoff actuator line connecting to vacuum is it....I did that yesterday...woops

have done that before too :p  not the case this time

have instaled the electronic feed pump at the tank i have too turn in on/off manual but thats even worse ??
so i turn on the pump glow and start it fires up and dies after a bit not to start again ....... let is sit for an hour
and i can try again  so then i started expirementing turn on the pump glow start when it runs turn of the pump and it struggels a litle and then it runs smooth......

RE: om606 G Starting problems - MrHope - 10-03-2016

Do you have a ingnitonkey operated stop vaccum?

if you set the 2 vacccum lines wrong it will do that.

Try remove the small vaccum line on the stop and see if there is any difference..

do you have 100% banjo or plastic o-ring fuel lines? as 605/606 standard?

RE: om606 G Starting problems - wouter - 10-03-2016

the ingnition din't have a vaccum shut off so i used a electronic valve that opens when u turn the key
whit 100% banjo what do u mean by that all fuel lines ar rubber no plastic lines

ok, do try to start with the vaccum hose disconnected from the stop on pump.

did you replace whole fuelfilter holder and all fuel connectors to 603 style with banjo fittings?
if not its wery common that there is a air leak in those plastic connectors an fuel will drain when car is sitting over night.
i have had that trubble on a 605 before.

RE: om606 G Starting problems - wouter - 10-06-2016

disconected the vaccum line no change

i have a pressure banjo bolt on the outlet of the pump and after that a pressure valve
since i'm not using the 603/606 filter housing

RE: om606 G Starting problems - starynovy - 10-07-2016

But when it runs and you drive it, then you start it in lets say hour or two it goes good? This sounds to me like major diesel leak. Over night fuel goes from IP back into tank, when you try to start it will burn last remnants caught in elements and then it is good known story of M pump filled with air.. takes a loooot of cranking. No one-way valves will help you with this as it can leak to tank via fuel return. You need to reseal whole injection system, electric lift pump is always good idea.

RE: om606 G Starting problems - wouter - 10-08-2016

if i stop the engine for longer that 20/30min it doest it again

it does have a check valve right after the tank

and i instaled a electric lift pump thats even worse? if i let the pump on it dies
what i do to start is now  turn the electric lift pump on for 4 seconds then glow for about 6seconds and the start it doesn't work evry time
if i let the electric lift pump on it start  and dies again too ? even if im driving  i turn it on it dies??

.

RE: om606 G Starting problems - starynovy - 10-08-2016

Well.. stupid thing but did you mount that electric pump right way? Big Grin When you disconnect hose at injector pump and then run electric pump does the fuel pours out? When the engine is running do you see airbubles in transparent lines?

RE: om606 G Starting problems - wouter - 10-08-2016

Big Grin yes its the right way i can't see airbubles i don't have ant transparent lines
