Om606 turbo head swap advice. - BoostedW124 - 03-23-2017 I ended up stripping the glow plug threads and tried to save it with a helicoil. The tab from the coil when I broke it off fell into the engine and when I started the car I heard the piece of metal go through the head and now I have blow by from the valve. I have a non turbo om606 from a w124. Will I be losing anything from putting that head on through my turbo motor? Is anyone selling a om606 head by any chance in the tri-state area? Does anyone offer a rebuild kit for the head of these engines? Hopefully I can have a machine shop Salvage my head but I am trying to weigh my options and make a game plan. What would you guys do in this situation? Thank you very much RE: Om606 turbo head swap advice. - barrote - 03-23-2017 TD and N/A head assy are the same... at least in the 605´s suspect is the same in the 606´s . strange how u let something fall in the GP hole and endend inside the chamber .... U can use the N/A head direct or swap the turbo valves in and the springs. Exaust valves are diff and valve springs... rest is same part numbers . BTW keep the N/A cams in the turbo ... But that is not your major concern, the piston is surelly damaged, maybe u´ll need to replace it too. pray u have only those those damage. regards RE: Om606 turbo head swap advice. - TurboTim - 03-24-2017 Maybe the valve pinched the piece? RE: Om606 turbo head swap advice. - Simpler=Better - 03-24-2017 It's probably going to be cheapest to find a beater 300D for sale and just buy the whole car. I've seen a few go for like $800 running. If you buy a pulled head it's going to be way more than that RE: Om606 turbo head swap advice. - BoostedW124 - 03-26-2017 Turbo Tim this is what I also think and hope. I just got head off last night and nothing I can see is visibly damaged but I think something will show when I pull the valves and look at the top below the glow old (where the neutral should of fell. Barrotte, thank you, intake and exhaust valve springs are better? I think I would like to swap thEse over and use my clean na head. RE: Om606 turbo head swap advice. - BoostedW124 - 03-26-2017 When I turboed my na engine I talked to dieselmeken about a new pump and he advised me I could put stiffer valve springs and call it a day. I mean its only a stock w210. I plan on more power in the future but with stiffer springs he said na can take 300 hp reliable. my next thought is glow plugs I bought brand new for turbo engine and I compared them to my na head (all 6 glow plug came out easy like a spark plug change) and they are same length just different connector at harness and electrode tip looks a little different shape but I don't see why I can't use them. RE: Om606 turbo head swap advice. - Hario' - 03-26-2017 Friend, next time: Pull injector, pull prechamber, magnet on a piece of spring.... RE: Om606 turbo head swap advice. - BoostedW124 - 03-26-2017 good idea Hario, I learned a lot so far from this time consuming/expensive mistake. I still dont see how prechamber comes off.
