oil pressure - George3soccer - 10-18-2009 Hey guys need some schematics if available. I need the oil pressure schematic for the om603 300d motor schematic. Want to meassure the oil pressure on the motor, and where to measure and what pressure to expect. Thanks guys, RE: oil pressure - ForcedInduction - 10-18-2009 Its hydraulics so anywhere you tap should show system pressure, up to 7bar. RE: oil pressure - George3soccer - 10-19-2009 Is there a low for the system. And is there any way to diagnose how I'm getting a low pressure on the guage cluster. Quite a few parts were already replaced. RE: oil pressure - ForcedInduction - 10-19-2009 Your cluster uses an electronic sensor to measure oil pressure. If its low, I'd bet top dollar on an aging sensor and/or wire connection quality. Officially, 0.3bar at idle that raises to 3bar at 3000rpm is minimum. Unofficially, 1.5bar at idle that raises to 3bar by 2000rpm is an average minimum. Removing the sender and measuring with a mechanical gauge would be the easiest method of testing. RE: oil pressure - George3soccer - 10-19-2009 Ok good let me just make sure everything is up to par with my readings. It's above slightly 0.5 bar at idle, and when above 2,500rpm it pins at 3 bar. Is that fine, or should I start diagnosing everything to make sure i have a higher pressure in the motor. Oil pump replaced oil filter housing replaced brand new, oil pressure sender brand new, New rebuilt motor has only 16,000miles on it. RE: oil pressure - bmwpowere36m3 - 10-19-2009 (10-19-2009, 01:01 PM)George3soccer Ok good let me just make sure everything is up to par with my readings. It seems a little low, but that can also be due to oil weight or the oil you run. Thinner oil, less oil weight, will give less oil pressure and the temperature of the oil, hotter oil is thinner, will also determine its pressure. Not matter which Mercedes I've owned or worked on, they always seem to read 1 bar at idle and up to 3 bar once revved a little to 2-3k RPM. To be sure you're reading the correct oil pressure, I would test with another external gauge to verify the reading in the cluster is correct. And proceed from there... RE: oil pressure - George3soccer - 10-19-2009 Yes I will deffinitly measure this reading over the weekend. The pressure guage reads 1.5 bar at idle and 3 bar once revved up when the oil is cold. But after 10min-15min of driving the readings go down to what I have mentioned above. Also side note where an easy spot to grab my readings from how's where the original oil pressure sender unit is located at the oil filter housing. And any ideas what the reading should read once everything is warmed up, possibly the readings that forced has posted. |
