Box Section Exhaust Manifold OM606 - engineengineer - 03-21-2018 Hi all, wondered whether anyone had ever experimented with an exhaust manifold made of welded plate steel? I can buy a manifold flange for around £50 Euro. Also is the manifold bolt pattern different on turbo/non turbo 606? Thanks RE: Box Section Exhaust Manifold OM606 - AlanMcR - 03-21-2018 Seems like that would flow quite differently than a tube manifold. I doubt it would be better. I believe that the exhaust manifold mounting bolts for the NA and turbo are the same. RE: Box Section Exhaust Manifold OM606 - NZScott - 03-21-2018 You're going to get terrible efficiency with a big open space for the exhaust gases to slow and expand into. But I cringe at rear mounted turbos. I remember reading a forum about a guy who made a turbo manifold out of actual box section for a Toyota H diesel. So that's been done. |
