OM606 Torque Converter Question - wiseman89 - 11-03-2018 Hi Guys, As I am slowly starting to reassemble my om606, I want to send my torque converter out to get it modified but I am not sure about this area. I bought a 722.626 trans from a 2006 E320 CDI. I also have the original trans from the E300 that the om606 came from. I know I have to swap the bell housings around. Do I just use my original torque converter from the OM606 trans and use it with the 722.626 or Do I use the torque converter from the 722.626 trans and have to modify the flexplate ? Any help would be appreciated ! RE: OM606 Torque Converter Question - firen456 - 11-04-2018 Hello, the 320CDI converter won't fit the small bell housing. 270CDI converter has two clutches for lockup. The stall speed is lower than the 300TD converter. RE: OM606 Torque Converter Question - wiseman89 - 11-05-2018 Do you know what the part number is for the 270 CDI torque converter ? the converter part number on my e300 trans is 210 250 06 02 which looks like is the same part number as the 270cdi converter. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MERCEDES-ML-270-CDI-2-7-2003-W163-TORQUE-CONVERTOR-2102500602/123403039274?epid=10024448041&hash=item1cbb64f22a:g:G6gAAOSwLZBbtMIv:rk:5:pf:1 RE: OM606 Torque Converter Question - firen456 - 11-06-2018 Yes, u're right. They've got the same number. I just told what I've been told. Maybe there is no diff at all. RE: OM606 Torque Converter Question - wiseman89 - 11-06-2018 Ya its weird ! Ive been told the 300td torque converter is only a single disk but from the one I pulled out it has the same part number as a 270 cdi. Maybe I will just put this out there incase anyone comes across this. I use a site in the USA called rockauto.com. I compared the part number from a 1998 e300td and a 2003 or so dodge sprinter with a 270 cdi, both have the same part numbers listed for torque converters. What Im going to do is buy a converter from cobra transmissions in florida, it is listed as a 300td and 270cdi torque converter with 2 disks and I will have it sent to FTI torque converters to restall to 2800 RPM. RE: OM606 Torque Converter Question - firen456 - 11-06-2018 Ok, sounds very interesting. I also wanna have a high stall converter. Mine stalls at about 2k. That's way to low to spool the turbo properly. What does FTI take for changing the stall speed. I already bought a C180 convertor and hope it has a higher stall with my engine but I haven't put it in the car so far... RE: OM606 Torque Converter Question - Tobulus - 12-09-2018 I had a c200 converter behind my om605 with 6mm pump. At high load, it just slipped. Engine reved to 5k rpm but car did not really accellerate. Felt like a slipping transmission, but it was not slipping. |
