I have a 606 block in the machine shop to be bored for new pistons. They just called and suggested that it needs to be surfaced to clean up the head gasket surface.
What is the allowed amount that can be taken off to be safe? If it is an issue we can always resize the rods to make up the difference.

A lot... if needed. Just to clear a gasket .1mm sufice and u can use a stock gasket. But u should acess CR
