MB 6speed Shift Linkage - crodgers - 10-16-2020

Hey guys, I'm working on shortening the linkage for my 716.628, to fit into a w124 chassis. Does anyone have any other alternatives to the stock linkage setup? It uses a cable for the left-right movement of the shift lever, which is a pain in the ass to cut and weld and not mess up the smoothness.

There's an updated design that eliminates the cable, wondering if anyone has experience using that assembly over this one, and whether or not it's interchangeable with the older transmissions.

Hi, w203 linkage is more simple without cable. You can find on youtube czs motorsport , there is video about how to fit 6 speed trans and shifter

That 716.628 can be from gas engines , the NSG 270? Can be faster and best solution find a NSG 370 from CDI engines , W203 has them with no cable, if a cheap one appears at yunkyards.

Googling see the NSG 510, but for newer engines, different bolt pattern than OM60x-M103-M104 engines.

6th gear 0,828 usually, others new bolt pattern 0,809 and others superlong gear , 4th is 1:1, 5th is 0,78 and 6th is 0,67 , 69,3Km/h@1000rpm in 6 gear.

I don't think we got manual w203 cars in the US. I am in the same boat so I would like to keep this discussion going for alternative methods. BMW has a similar solid linkage and there are plenty of those in the junkyards here.

You can simply eliminate the cable setup with rods and linkages on a self made lever. Easy, cheap and works superior.
