603 how much reliable HP? - giezy - 11-17-2009 how much horsepower and torque could a 603 be built to be reliable? i was thinking of using some kind of variable turbo or twins and building a header to get it to fit. could you get 250 hp out of it and 3-350 tq? Just brainstorming right know sold my 300td wagon and bought a 87 300sdl with a 603 in it but i also have this 2.2 5 speed 190 that needs a motor RE: 603 how much reliable HP? - E300TSC - 11-17-2009 Reliable is a relative term. Simpler tends to be more reliable. Also, more power leads to more wear and shorter overall life but not always less reliability. A good variable vane/nozzle turbo, improved intake, exhaust and 6mm pump elements should be able to easily achieve your 250HP goal. RE: 603 how much reliable HP? - ForcedInduction - 11-17-2009 300hp is a common figure for stock internals. However, an engine with a Holset making 300hp at 4500rpm will be less stressed and live longer than one with a VNT making 300hp at 3000rpm. Its all about torque, thats what makes it fun. RE: 603 how much reliable HP? - giezy - 11-27-2009 what turbo modle would be good and should a intercooler be used to keep egt's down? I got the 2.2 out and the engine bay all cleened up looks like new! |
