I know what I'm thankful for this year! - CID Vicious - 11-27-2009 Half off day at the valley pick a part: The big question, is which set are the 'keeper' wheels. The five-star aftermarket ones are 15x7, the 190 wheels are 15x6, and the lighter of the two. Got a pair of 205 65 15 tires mounted and a pair of 215 60 15s that need to get mounted up, I think I'm going to run the 215s on the front since there's really no benefit to having them in the rear, it's not like those 205s are just going to spin away with a heavy foot behind a mostly stock 617a . I figure the extra footprint is worth more in the front for steering and braking at this power level, and they're pretty much identical in diameter. Eventually I'm going to invest in a set of good tires, at least some 225 width, would it be better to have the extra width in the rim, or is six enough considering they're lighter? I'm thinking of 225-50-15s, really tighten up the responses. There's also a 235-60-15 that the Camaro used to run, it's a little more money but that's a pretty fat tire. It would look killer on the 5 stars, and that's always been my favorite wheel style anyway. I'm thinking of blacking out the centers to make it a little less showy, and leaving the lips chrome. The 240D is getting the chrome bundts that came with the 300D, and the 15x6s are a big ??? so far, but they're a score anyway. Anyone know of some pics of a 123 running the chrome 80's 190 15s in that style? Probably a great mix of flash and stock look. RE: I know what I'm thankful for this year! - Jetmugg - 12-04-2009 You should check the offsets on all the wheels to make sure there are no interference problems. The W201 (190 series) wheels were usually in the ET49 range, and will very likely cause problems with interference on a W123 body. The wheels will be "tucked in" more than with the stock Bundts, and the tires may rub on the suspension or inner wheelhouses. RE: I know what I'm thankful for this year! - CID Vicious - 12-08-2009 Those need spacers, for sure. The aftermarket wheels came off of a W126 so they should fit without spacers, I'll know when I have them on of course. The 190 wheels are a pretty common upgrade, I just haven't looked up the proper size spacer to order. |
