I'm new at the whole MB diesel thing, and I'm trying to learn about the different engines. Now looking at a '95 E300 diesel "Special Edition". Any red flags with this car? From what I've been reading, it should have W124 chassis and OM603 3.0L engine. The 3.0L supposedly does not have the rod-bending problems of the 3.5L engine. Does anybody have the 3.0? Additionally, where can I find the engine number on the car?

The om603 what found in the 87 300td w124. That was the only year it was imported. A 95 would come with a 24valve om606.

Right. 95 was the first year of the 606 in the USA and the only mechanical version, 96+ used a computer for complete control of fuel.
