(09-11-2013, 03:51 PM)Jetmugg Very cool project. I have an OM602 turbo in a 190D.

I would like to have Dieselmeken rework my pump in the near future. I had him/them do a VW injection pump for me, and it is top notch.

The worst part is the shipping cost to and from Sweden, however. For my VW pump, Goran sourced a pump for me over there, built it, and shipped it to the USA.

It was cheaper for him to find a donor pump in Sweden than it was to ship my pump from the USA to Sweden.

How was the shipping cost for your 602 pump to and from the USA to Sweden?

Steve.

So shipper was'nt horrible from here. I used the USPS and it was around $100. Best of it was there in less then 4 days

(09-11-2013, 11:56 AM)raysorenson Did you go with a red plate? What disc?

Clutchnet's website stinks, so dont rely on their red, blue purple listings. Just call them, they always need to make the stuff from OE parts or full custom.
I sent them a 16V pressure plate and disc that they are modifying. They are building a custom friction disc with a HD organic material, don't get caught up in Kevlar or carbon Kevlar as they do not last long and offer only marginal holding power over HD organic, also they glaze very easly is slipped to much. I ran a 6 puk on my old Starion and it held great but was mostly undrivable, so hopefully i don't need to go that route..

Shitty AE (Federal Mogul) valves. No reason that should have happened to a valve. No sing of overheating, the car doesn't see much time at 6000RPM. The M103 springs are only 20% stiffer then the OM602 springs so i don't believe that there is to much spring tension on them. Besides M103's use larger valves ( read heavier ) and rev higher with the same keepers, retainers ect.

Oh yeah OE valves are in stock in NJ, head the block has a big dent in it..so it's dead. I would need to machine it, press in 1 or 5 liners, new pistons ect... then maybe try to fix the cylinder head. At that point it's cheaper to get a used engine. Pistons are really pricey,

Good, slow but good. the bottom end is all set. Took a bit of time to modify the oil pump, drive chain, oil pan and get the oil jets installed and adjusted.

Waiting on the cylinder head, and still trying to buy a flange from KKD (which is proving very difficult ) i may just make my own flange and offer up the drawing.

(05-06-2014, 07:36 PM)led-panzer How's the 605 coming?

Good, slow but good. the bottom end is all set. Took a bit of time to modify the oil pump, drive chain, oil pan and get the oil jets installed and adjusted.

Waiting on the cylinder head, and still trying to buy a flange from KKD (which is proving very difficult ) i may just make my own flange and offer up the drawing.

Well its been forever getting my cylinder head done as the exhaust valves were on back order from M-B Germany. Heads done with new guides, seats, valves, springs, lifters, welded cam. The engine is 98% back together and should start next week. Ill get some pictures up soon.
Ive also finished building my merge collector.

Was the cam welded for a regrind w/same base circle or just to weld the gear to the shaft?

Good to hear of progress on this beast. It was already pretty impressive with shitty trans and a 602.

I welded it due to the know slippage. And with adding double the spring pressure and a 1700 rpm rise in rev limit i didn't want it to slip on the cam

give that a try folks.

Got a lot done this weekend, had to make a transmission cross member, lengthen the shift rods, install the shifter, built new wiring harness as well as the other related wiring and vacuum lines all incorporated into into one. Got the assembly installed in the car. Started striping parts off the old 400E loaner car we had.

The manifold work looks great. Are you going to have to rotate that flange?

Forum attachment pics don't work for me using Chrome. I have to left click ->open image in new tab. Off-site pics using the img code seem to work fine.
