w110 springs in a w115?
w110 springs in a w115?
any ideas if this will work? i know a guy thats going to bag an old fintail and the springs are worthless to him. im wanting to lower my w115 300d and dont know if these springs will work or not. if this wont work, does anyone have an idea other than a cut and torch job?
The W110 is a swing axle and the W115/116 are IRS trailing arms like a W123. I doubt the backs would be compatible. The fronts are also kind of dicey, that's the kingpin era of suspension. I think you'd be better off getting springs from a W123 instead of the fintail.
Also use a 6" angle grinder on the springs, easy as pie and doesn't heat up the spring as much as a torch does. I just cut the springs for my 240D and I was able to pick them up three inches away from the cut with my bare hands to quench them in oil, and cutting two coils off of a spring takes maybe five minutes if you're really taking your time.
Tell that guy to at least pull some of the old trim off of the car if it's going to it's demise. Stuff isn't going to get any easier to find, y'know.
