new here looking for some performance
my understanding is that all non turbo motors do not have internal oil delivery systems like under piston oil jets and such that help with the added stress of turbo charging.
Having said that, there are a number of guys on here with retrofitted NA 240s and 300s, so its definitely possible and has been done. Good news for you is (unless you are building something custom), all you have to do is grab the turbo, turbo exhaust and intake manifolds, and all other related stuff off of a turbo 5 cyl. Im not sure what you do with the intake to over boost protection relay (grab that too if you don't have a boost gauge) to ALDA connections. Someone who knows way more than I can probably tell you if you need to do something at the pump or not. does a 5 cyl non turbo have a ALA instead of a ALDA? would you have to switch them? There is discussion about the added stress to the engine, and what that might do to longevity.
Or swap in a turbo 5 cyl engine....
The 300D NA is a pretty peppy car if its up to tune. I agree with above though, if you wanted to make it more powerful, if might be in your best interests to source a turbo motor, or turbo car instead of turbo charging this one and then worrying about it in service.
Personally, I would put a manual transmission behind the 5 cyl NA, and make sure its running right with a valve adjustment and fresh filters then stop at that.
even the 60 hp 240 is was more fun to drive and feels more powerful with a different transmission.
The only thing you can do to increase performance on a NA engine is to turn up the ADA 1/4CCW. It can't handle a turbo, they are completely different engines internally.
Get a Cummins 4bt that would be sick!
