(04-15-2010, 03:34 PM)Tymbrymi Has anyone done any work with the electronic pumps yet? I think that would make a huge difference in what you dyno graphs would look likeHere is some electronic pump made at 7mm, but those are low emission cars, so those had tune smokeless and not that big turbo, there for no that much power as mechanical pumps can give.

(04-15-2010, 04:00 PM)antonmies Actually they do these days. If you go and see a newer more emission controlled diesel engine, you will see a wideband sensor in the exhaust manifold and sometimes also after the cat converter.

(04-15-2010, 04:35 PM)jeemu We get new dyno in Kalajoki where i go dyno my car. Then we get double mass on rolls. So turbo spools earlier and dyno graph looks much nicer.

(04-15-2010, 04:52 PM)Tymbrymi It isn't the pump that's limiting power, it is the tune right? You could take one of the electronic pumps, put your elements in it, and tune it to make the HP you are correct?Like i say. Those are low emission cars and those cant put that big turbo as these old piece of shit. Actually those cars cant change at all if goes right at the law says. another thin is money. Electronic pump at 7mm and tuned software cost more than mechanical pump.
(04-15-2010, 04:52 PM)Tymbrymi What is the mass of the rollers? Does it match the weight of your car? These what i dynod dont weight that much as my car.

If we can DIY the software, it should cost quite a lot less than a mechanical pump. All the shop has to do is install and balance the elements. Governor is all software, should be able to be tuned with a laptop and a chip programmer.

Where did you mount the first inter cooler before the engine rebuild? I just got the exact same one for free and was wondering if I could make it work on my '82 with too much cutting.. I can kind of see it through the top of the bumper but Iwas wondering if you had any more install pics of it?
The one I ave Measures 21.5"L x 2.5"w x 5.5"t

Nice. I don't think I could make it fit as nicely as yours though. the SD bumper is definitely tons different than a regular D bumper. Mine looks like it belongs on a tank lol

Some update, I installed a LSD unit in the diff
Few shots of the LSD unit:
Empty diff case
Looks good
Middle shaft seems to be in good shape
Spiders are pretty bad
LSD unit installed
Gear ratio
It's no much more fun to drive and it's very stable when you do an fast launch.
that's a neat little set up whats something like that run?
I've heard these solutions don't last long, will be interested to hear about lognevity. They are what $200 or so USD? I still have no clue how this works.
Oh it's good! DID chains are the shit!

Okay some minor updates.
Made an hybrid steering box from 123 worm gear, steering ration now little faster.
Also installed water injection setup last week, made some trial runs yesterday and blew one boost pipe
Seems to work as planned, EGT are way lower and now the rear end has some problems to keep up
Pics coming soon
Also need bigger pump for MOAR fuel!
Here's pics:
Got some JB on there Huh?
If it works it works. Paint it with the pipe and it wouldn't look much different than a bung weld.

Ok I see. I was asking because usually those brass fitting are NPT and I just use a little lock tight then wipe off the excess.
(JB weld) It's a glue that hardens like plastic we use it over here in the US

I use Locktite #246 to seal all NPT fittings. It is quite fantastic actually, more of a sealer in my book than a thread locker. Plus it is oil resistant! Its a darker blue and thicker than your standard #242 stuff.
Small updates nothing new really.
Have been driving alot, changed to ethanol/water mixture, much better response now.
Also started installing NOS kit.
Pics later on.
Really really enjoyed reading this thread.....so good in fact I had to go back and read most of it twice!....top class job, very professional and well executed.....it's just what this site is all about....someone applying modern technology to older cars and achieving spectacular results...would love to rebuild a car like that. As a matter of interest JTY.....any idea of power and torque outputs?
estonishing, briliant! That is just a perfect S-class after you lowered it and mounted those lorinser-wheels, the motor is also the right one, love it!

I would like to fix the picture urls, nothing else.
You can thank our buddy ForcedInduction for that one

Let's bump this project with some external photos
These are from Summer 2011:
And some rear shots from today:
Why not post some internal shots also
Brabus suspension from the 80's was spot on, the stance is just perfect for the w126 chassis.
The car is still in everyday drive, same configuration, runs strong and is still fast.

How is that fake LSD holding up? If you're using the car much I'd pull the diff cover off and inspect your spider gears. Truth is, that style "LSD" (AKA Phantom Grip, AKA Phantom Slip) is actually a bad and incomplete copy of another, better LSD add-on. There are supposed to be clutches between the sprung plates and spider gears. Instead, those plates wear directly on the spiders to limit slip. Which is bad, m'kay?
Other than that, your car is awesome and you are awesome! Thanks for the inspiration!
