The master link's center spacer is the one that fits looser around the pins. The one you mushroom the pins out over fits pretty tight. I got my dad to hold a sledge hammer against the back of the master link while I peened the pins over with a nail set.
All I see in my head is your avatar grinning like that while staking down a chain link! Hahahahaha!!
Good to know you can do it without the special tool though...
LOL I do find the avatar hilarious. And when you made the comment about the toothbrush on the garage sink and not been shaving all week, all I could think was ... CAVEMAN!
