I googled it but, cannot figure it out. I have access to it now as I am trying to break loose the bolts on my alternator and have take out the air cleaner box. If I want to get more boost which way do I turn that thing?

and how much is 'safe' like half a turn? two turns?

If you tighten the screw CW it will load up the spring and require more force to open the Waste gate...give it few turns and try it out.

1982 300SD: 304,xxx Super M-pump with 7.5mm elements, 265 Nozzles, GT35 water cooled turbo, M90 Supercharger, A/W Intercooler, Serpentine drive belt, 3" SS exhaust with Magnaflow muffler, 240 breather, AEM dry Filter, Manual Boost Control, EGT / Boost / EMP gauges....Moved on to other projects

1995 F-350 7.3L PSD: 230,xxx 6.0 IC, DIY Stage 1 Injectors, 17* hpop, Tony Wildman Chip, John Wood Trans, 6.4L TC, 3" down pipe, 4" straight exhaust, 310 HP on wheel dyno - 8500# dually: 0-60 in 6.98

Suzuki Samurai: VW 1.9L TD, Trackick doubler transfer case (made by me) 5.8:1 transfer case gears, YJ springs front and rear with rear missing links, wheel base extended 14", diffs welded, some day a VNT.

CW to increase. One complete turn is worth 1-1.5psi boost.

^^ thanks guys.

Also, there seems to be oil spilled all about the connection of that little hose there at the wastegate. I have replaced the hose.

What could that be a sign of? maybe just an old leaky hose. But, why should there be oil in the intake manifold?!

Blown turbo, leaking oil separator (oil on airfilter)? That model is a PITA to modify, I would get a manual boost controller.

That's just an image I pulled of the net
here
http://www.serenitysys.com/MB/Service_In...turbo_.htm

But that's what I have under the hood.

Blown turbo-- I can here and feel mine working
Leaky oil separator on air filter. -- Yeah, there is a bunch of oil in my air box.

manual boost controler-- Huh? I don't have a pyro or MAP. Also, pretty strapped for cash right now. Just thought I could open up that thing in the pic and tighten the wastegate a smidgen.

You can open it up, its a PITA even with a third arm and 11 fingers. The $10 cost on a MBC is well worth the saved hours and cursing.

Leak oil separator, pull the tabs up, pull the top off, clean well, reseal with black RVT, put lid back on push tabs down, wait overnight. No more oil mess.

Awesome advice.

Can you explain more about the $10 mbc? What would I need to do with the wastegate? Loosen it all the way down? Remove it?

Where do I get one? like that right.

I did clean out the oil separator thing by bending up a tab. It was not sealed in any way.
you mean use a rtv silicone to seal it?
http://www.acehardware.com/product/index...=109369717

the part that is like the size of a soup can lid with a tube coming out the top, right?

thanks in advance

Taking off the cap is easy. All you need is a pen screwdriver or a pick. Oil is completely normal due to recirculation of crankcase gasses.

Why spend $12 when you only need $0 to get the same result?

You must have smaller hands or better tools. It took me hours to get that *)&)&)&) clip out. $12 makes it so you never have to take the clip out again. I dunno give it a try, if its easy for you all the better. If the air filter is getting oily seal the seperator. Cheap and easy fix.

I did make an adjustment to the wastegate screw. It was rough to get the tang out and even rougher getting it back in.
I could see both opinions being valid. The cheapskate vs. the uncoordinated.
