naphtha purge?
naphtha purge?
I ran a can of lubro-moly diesel purge and saw that it turned pretty sooty while running through. Also read the ingredients and see naphtha listed. I think it might be like 80% of that stuff.
That diesel purge was expensive and hard to get a hold of.
Can you run just naphtha or a naphtha diesel blend through to clean out the injectors etc.?
I am no expert... but I wouldn't. You need something else to slow the burn.
You could have some pre-ignition in the PC's... that could bust them open. not fun.
Hey! veg oil would be great! (wheres FI?)
edit* I didn't see you wanted to add diesel.
Go for it? 60% diesel to be safe ?
I add one gallon of Shell nitrogen enriched gasoline to a full tank about once every 2or3 months, and that definetly clears up gunk in my system.
Almost everytime i fill up with diesel i add either all of or half of the 32oz bottle of Diesel Kleen+cetane boost, and she loves it.

Garage, How much gas to you add to a fuel tank of Diesel/Veg?
No more than one gallon!! I cant belive i didnt put that in the post above.
And i only use the nitrogen enriched 91octane gasoline from Shell.
One time on craigslist i found 40gallons of free diesel, the only catch was the dude accidently put 7gallons of gasoline into the diesel tank.
We pumped it out of his tank and ran it in our cars with 0 problems.
Gasoline will definetly clear out the gunk, and will also help keep the fuel from gelling in cold weather.
Imma try that
I'll let you know when the rods come out the oil pan....
I'm thinking the skid plate will catch 'em up!
Do not use raw vegetable oil! It causes much more harm than good.
Get a tank of B50 or B99/B100 BioDiesel instead.

Call any place that has B20, they often have a 300gallon tote of B100.

Other inputs on a diesel purge?
What about kerosene??
FI you don't seem to like the Lubro Moly what do you use?
I personally think BG Products makes the best additives I've used but that don't have something specific for a diesel purge. However I am sold on the 244/248.
I'd really like to hear more inputs on this!
Well as far as other additives go.
Automatic transmission fluid cleans out the whole system really well. I carry a quart of it in my trunk at all times.
Ive used Lubro Molly before..its just kind of expensive, and ive found in my opinion that my engine likes the Diesel Kleen more than the Lubro.
Acetone in gasoline engines makes the cars emissions better.(good trick for a smog test). But ive never put it in my diesel.
Onetime at Home Depot, my dad found a whole shelf of metal gallon containers of kerosene on sale, I dont remember how much they were but i remember that he bought ALOT of it. We used that to thin out the WVO and it worked great.
Ive used a Lucas brand fuel system cleaner once. I didnt notice much.
Ive read about Marvel Mystery Oil being good for these cars, but ive yet to use it.
