thought I would take a break from the SL and get the paintwork done on my W124 daily driver.
it was a lot of work, but she is painted...

http://www.coastalboatsales.com/jfraley/...24-project

re-assemble, wet sand and buff, and back to work on the W107 diesel.

A black car is one of the few times a blacked out grille looks good.

thanks.. those were the stock wheels on the CL600 '06 vintage

its the absolute largest tire on a 18" wheel possible on a W124
(well a non 500E W124)

you could not slide two business cards between the inner sidewall and the strut
and barley 1/4" on the inner fender lip

rear is about the same..very minor rubbing at full steering lock in the front
and when the back comes close to full deflection the tires slightly rub on the top of the wheel well.

I like the blacked out grill. It looks mean. It sounds like your getting super close to the fenders. I bought a fender rolling tool to fit the 275's on my w123. They were really close and I though I could get away with just putting them on. However, in a drift, the tires would rub like crazy!

Yes, I've heard of it. I've even done it several times. I think there is a cheaper harbor frieght one avalible. After all that work I'm not sure if I could use a baseball bat to do it. Big Grin
