Any idea ~what RPM max boost is? On my stock 87 190DT max boost (~12 psi) comes on at about 2700 rpm. Sound right?

OM605 wasn't made in 1987 nor available in 190 chassis. It is OM602.

Grr, you are right. I am really not this bad. Trying to do real work while on the internet is not a good thing. It is a 1987 190DT 602.961 W201

Depends what gear you're in.

I also have a 190d 2.5turbo but I have messed up with IP, boost controller and LPG injection so boost increases much earlier and faster.

First thing you can do it reduce turbo lag is install a boost controller (~$10 on ebay). You may keep the stock boost pressure but lag will be reduced.

1992 Mercedes 190D 2.5 turbo 5sp manual. EGT+boost gauges. Boost controller set to ~14.5 psi. 1 1/4 turns on full load adjustment. LPG injection.

I do recommend, getting a few gauges, to aid in with the tunning on these OM motors.

Under full throttle in 2nd or 3rd it does not reach full boost until 2700 rpm.

I am planning on getting a boost controller but it should not reduce lag. If the stock wastegate is set to 12-13 psi it does not open until then, hence not bypassing any exhaust. I still have the Alda tamper seal on, I need to adjust it.

I have a boost gauge mounted under the radio. No egt gauge yet.

(10-19-2010, 05:20 PM)BSharp Under full throttle in 2nd or 3rd it does not reach full boost until 2700 rpm.

I am planning on getting a boost controller but it should not reduce lag. If the stock wastegate is set to 12-13 psi it does not open until then,

As far as I know the wastegate is spring operated so it will start opening gradually until it reaches max aperture where it limits boost.

With a boost controller, the wastegate "doesn't see" boost until the boost controller tells it to. So if you dial the boost controller at about 11psi, the wastegate will start opening only at 11psi and not earlier.
