hi! how to set the pumptiming on a om606, the pump is a myna from a om603 engine.

when the tap is in the center of the inspection hole on the pump, and the crankshaft is at 15 degrees AFTER TDC (haynes manual), how many degrees BEFORE TDC starts the pump injection??

do i need special tools??

I got mine fitted without special tools, I just set the engine 15 atdc (haynes manual here too) and with the notch held in the hole by a screwdriver Smile I got the pump slid into the advance mechanism/gear/cog with some help from my dad to hold the cog engaged into the chain.

I would like to find a way to now check the advance, but not sure how the spill port method works, I'm used to the Bosch VE 'Rear-entry' method and have dti and adapters for this.

I believe the spill timing is 24 degrees BTDC is equal to the pointer-in-line with governor housing at 15 degrees After TDC....

I plan to confirm this when I remove the electronic pump from my 606 I'll check its 'spill-timing' point before I remove it....

Timing debend when that pump is made. Is that 7 or 8mm?

I think HughF pump is still 5.5mm, He was testing out his 606 before getting pump modified...

i think it is 7mm, but not sure. and they have changed to the newer cam, and external ALDA. myna told me the pump can handle 580hp on om606, and 510hp on om603

myna modified the pump for about a month ago.

As the pump is that new, set timing at the crank to 20 BTDC and install pump with the locking tool in the insp hole. Mynä changes the timing mark position inside the pump.

any information about this "new cam"?
If custom made, will those be for sale?
More lift and/or modified profile?

(08-25-2010, 01:49 PM)jeemu my friend can make what design cam you want.

first I should know what to change?
profile?
cam lift?
Next: still use the 7mm elements that originally are designed for 7mm cam lift?
Modification of the stock cam or completely new?

timing still is 24 deg but only the marks are changed?

jeemu: maybe you could measure the total cam lift next time when the delivery valves are out?

I meant marks are changed from MB stock. I believe the actual injection timing is as the marks say. Haven't checked, though.

if timing mark now is 20 deg for BOD it's either because of increased pre lift adjustment or bigger supply bore or different position of supply bore compared to stock.
Nothing unusual using the 7mm elements.
But both increased bore and increased pre lift adjustments will reduce the effective stroke.

It gets interesting when the different position of the marks result from a different cam...

Hey guys,

I'm kinda confused. I have an om606 with a stock 603 IP, and I have got the timing screwed up. When I have the injection pump locking tool in, the engine should be at 24 BTDC? I was under the impression it was supposed to be 14 ATDC.
Help me, I need it!
Thanks in advance.

I believe only if you had Myna build the injection pump!

Yes of course, as I wrote the 20 BTDC as a reply to the original question. Stock pumps are timed as manuals say, ATDC.
