Seems like if I keep it up I will be making big savings since I just drive off and don't worry about the bit of fuel I stole.
Any insight on this phenomenon?

So, I like to buy a few dollars of fuel and check my oil pretty often. I have a cup of change in the car and save quarters for meters. I use the other change to help prepay for a bit of fuel. And nearly every pump goes over the amount that I have paid. Strange, I wonder why they stop like 10-30 cents past the amount I paid. Gas pumps always stop right on.

Legally, pumps have to flow the paid volume or higher. Big fines if they are found short pumping so stations calibrate the meters slightly high to make up for temperature density, flow bypassing the meter vanes, etc. Thats why people suggest fueling in the morning to get more dense fuel, even though underground tanks stay at a consistent temperature all day.
Today the lady may have gotten wise. I ordered 2.24 of fuel and it pumped superduper slow and then stopped at 2.23.

maybe it's a small % of large fuel purchases to go over a few cents but, if I get like 30 cents a day that's good for me.

Its also worth noting the flow meters are rated for accuracy at a certain minimum flow rate. So pumping super slow like that pretty much guarantees you get extra fuel since some of the pressure will seep past the gears/vanes.
