Hello.

is the manifoil and inlet good enough to handle 300-400hp? Or is it a must to customize? I mean the flow..

or is it better to choose 603 for such an project, is the flow better in this engine?

I will fit it in an old 69' BMW e9 race car.

603 will make that power much more efficiently then the 617, and much easier.

The exhaust manifold wil "work", but a custom manifold will give you lower exhaust temp and earlier spool up.
The inlet manifold is okay, but with adding 3-5 inces on the runners and a new plenum it is as good as it can be for a om617 head!

Remeber for pushing more than 300-330hp of it, you need to go heavy on the head. A friend of mine in sweden got 400 hp in the engine with a HEAVY modified head, custom grinded cam, double valve springs and ported inn and outlets to the max.

Yez. 603 and 606 will hit that numbers easy. But i like the charm of the om617, so i hope i choose the good old om617Smile

what is the biggest problem to hit this numbers with the old 617? yes brabus, that's one of the reasons I want to use 617, and the sound is in my opinion much better too.

A 617 will take a LOT of work to reach 300hp, a 603 will just need a turbo and injection pump.

thank you for answer, but for a 603a, can you use those om606 manifoils(bolt on?)?

I am not sure, but the 603 manifold is fine, just look for the 603 non turbo intake and build a plenum.

And for the exhaust manifold the euro 603 manifold will flow enough if not kkd makes a wicked exhaust manifold.

No, the 606 is a 24V with "flat" ports against the manifolds, the 603 have another shape.
