So I'm doing some winter mods to my 99 E300TD and I've got a question.

Is there a way to eliminate the mass air flow sensor on the 606? From what I understand the MAF only controls the EGR of the engine...just wondering if this is correct.

I have had my ECU remapped and also had the EGR function disabled with the remap...can I just remove the MAF totally without problems? Or do I need to install some resistors in its place? Any information on this will be greatly appreciated.

1981 300SD...Too much propane = bent rods. Junked
1980 240D...Body fell off. Saved drivetrain and junked
1985 300D...No.2 and N2O = 16.35@85mph. Sold Sad
1999 E300TD...3" exhaust with banks muffler, Hx-35, 215hp tune, IP resistor box, bad crankshaft snout Angry
2005 E320 CDI...AMG injectors, EGR removed, mapping

Based on my experiments, the MAF sensor also controls the "ceiling" of fueling at any given moment. It also has something to do with the transmission shifting properly.

I concluded that it doesn't hinder performance and it can be replaced for under $50 all day long so I abandoned my plans to eliminate it.

1998 MB E300 - 194,000 miles. Current/future mods: 7.5mm pump elements, Holset HX40 Turbo feeding Eaton M90 supercharger through custom fabbed intake system. Aeroturbine muffler, scratch-built 4" stainless exhaust. EGR eliminated, ECM recalibrated, modified rack position feedback circuit. Porterfield RS brake pads, Bilstein sport shocks, VDO EGT, oil and boost gauges.

2000 Ford F250 - 150,000 miles. Current/future mods: DP Tuner 3 map chip, scratch-built high flow intake, high output IDM, open circuit fuel system, ball bearing turbo, South Bend full metal clutch, slotted and drilled rotors. Autometer Sport Comp EGT and boost gauges.

.
MAF/EGR do not control fuelling, it just follows the fuelling rate.
Allmost all MB´s are pressure controlled.

If there is something wrong in MAF/EGR -> limp mode, when fuelling/revs are very limited.

Ask him/her to use USPS flat-rate international, it should be much cheaper.

He said this was all he could do Sad Then I said nope.
But I got another MAF from RON, the MAF electronic twaek I posted earlier, its a Pierburgh, look like it has the same properties as the 029, but I found out that if I tilt it slightly, the car is mighty again Smile
I might have been running too rich before?
