Helly everyone,

I've got a 300tdt w124 '92 with OM603 engine which has a loud ticking noise under the valve cover.

Have changed the oil from 5w30 to 10w40 and filter

Replaced the valve thingies (which are responsible for adjustment between camshaft and valves) under the camshaft.

Someone told me it could the headgasket so it loses oil pressure to the distribution.

Cold start gives a ticking noise when running, loudest around cil 2 and 3.
Warm engine loses the noise when revving high, 3000 rpm and up, valves are quiet till 10 seconds after revving.

Can anyone confirm the oil press loss problem due to a defective cil head gasket?

Thanks

Its basically the same symptoms I have. Having watched that first video in the link, sounds like it is dead on. There were a few headgasket revisions...

I had a little bit of "lifter" noise when I first got the car, and now occasionally startup, but after switching to Mobil 1 Turbo Truck Synthetic, it is fine. Maybe not perfect, but close.
