finally found one at the yard Smile

electrical connections:
brown is positive +
black is negative -

Vacuum port connections:
Outside port connects the Injection Pump vacuum diaphragm.
Center port connects to a vacuum source.

Is this correct?

tested above with my hand vacuum pump...seems to be working correctly Smile

thanks,
manny

That is not a shutoff valve, it is designed to work with boost pressure.

Opposite. Brown is earth/negative.

I dont think its an overboost valve either which can be used for vac or pressure. The cap is different?

Its the same as every overboost valve I've seen.

Must be an earlier version as the ones I have seen have a black rubber cap on top.

That's a shame, cause on the workbench this device appears to be what I was missing Sad

Since I no longer have my 300SD, one of the items on my todo list is being able to shutdown my diesel.

This over-boost device, competes a vacuum circuit when turned off...It does release some into the atmosphere, but It still may work (depending on how much vacuum the fuel-shutoff vacuum diaphragm requires).

thanks again for the info.

Used some good idea"s from this forum. Here,s one of mine, for faster response from turbo. Inlarge the holes in the hollow bolts in the alda control line and use earlier vac. control 78-79. This version has larger vac. fittings. Can also work on some of post 85 diesels. Does not give more h.p. but does give better response,( Much more fun to drive) .Did this mod.on a number of customers Benz"s,they were impressed! Takes longer time for boost pressure to get to alda with restricted fittings and or lines.

Won't make any difference. 1/4 turn CCW on the ALDA or using a MBC will have an effect.

Quote:Does not give more h.p.
Zero, actually... Only adjusting the governor will increase power.

The two on the bottom are normally open. You can plug one and then feed the top part to the shutoff valve. Applying voltage will then open the switch and vent to top, shutting off the car.

Am I understanding this correctly?

Isn't the objective to open the switch venting to the top port which allows vacuum to the IP shut off switch when voltage is removed (ie switch turned off) instead of when voltage is applied (switch on)?

Well that would certainly be another (better?) way to do it Big Grin

It looks like others have gotten these vacuum solenoids to work Smile

I've tested it, and have verified the following:
center port will hold vacuum when power is on.
once power is turned off, all ports share the same circuit.

The top port is vented to the atmosphere...which I imagine is a good thing, as you don't want stored vacuum on the Injection Pump diaphragm circuit.

The question is, would I have enough vacuum to shutdown the IP while loosing vacuum to the atmosphere (top port)?

keep you guys posted.
