Does anyone know what the recommended full throttle shift point is for a 2.5L turbo in a 87 190D? Not redline but what rpm it should shift under full throttle. It used to shift @ 4700 rpm now it is 4000-4200. I have the bowden cable adjusted as tight as it would go, I even slotted the linkage to get more out of it. It also does not down shift correctly. If the can is going more than 5 mph it will not downshift to 1st. It acts as if the throttle is @ 80% even though it is @ 100%. From what I have read, under full throttle the only thing that controls the shift point is the bowden cable. Is this true? There is a switch under the fuel pedal but I am not sure if it is a kickdown switch. I know the 123's use the switch but I am not sure what this one does, it does have continuity with a meter. The fluid and filter newish, nothing changed when they were changed. The VSV goes to 0 vacuum under full throttle. I am running out of ideas.

By definition it should shift at redline at full throttle.

Change the filter.

Fixed it!!!! The wire underneath going to the downshift solenoid was broken. I ohmed the pedal switch, is was ok. It was also getting 12v. Ohmed from the switch to the solenoid, nothing. Checked the wire and found the break. Fixed it and now it shifts @ 5000 rpm and will downshift 2 gears now. It will now chirp the tire going into 2nd.
