Let's start this over. What is all involved in the shutoff circuit?
I could give a rip about anything creature comforts. But I would like the car to shift and turn on and off.
Any good explanations or diagrams?
Here is another diagram where I have no idea what '1' or '2' are.
http://blacknblood.t35.com/07_1-150.pdf

So the goal is to delete egr and the 3/2way switch. This is the new thread to avoid visiting my last one that's full of aggravation and confusion.
Ok, DV suggests that this may be an '85 motor.

1 and 2 is the actual ignition switch. There's a valve on the side of it (1). Not the most clear diagram, it's really simple if you look at it in real life.

Define "I want it to shift". It's pretty easy to bypass the transmission and only enable shutoff, but the the shifts will be jerky.

Also, I don't see EGR on those diagrams...

I mean I have the trans modulator connected to the VCV.
When I got the car the other day it would shut off.

Then I tried to hook up the trans modulator. Thank goodness, now shifting is much smoother. And I put a blockoff plate on the EGR. Also pulled off/pluged vac lines from the ARV and EGR.
Now the motor will not cut fuel with the key. Sad

It's probably not plugged in right. If you have enough vacuum for the trans then I'd think you'd have enough vacuum for the shutoff.

Course if you want to get serious about it you should use a vacuum gauge, you're not gonna get far past identifying obviously open connections otherwise.

The diagram from your first post in the messy thread seems about right. Plug it in where the EGR was since I assume you blocked that off. See how much vacuum you get, should be 14psi.

About right but that diagram is not for '85 models.
Will check how much vacuum is coming off the vac pump tomorrow.
Then we can start from there. Till then there will be a lot of hood popping.

Yes, but from your pics in the other thread you clearly don't have an 85 vacuum setup. The extra connector off the ALDA is blocked with a screw... most of the extra 85 junk dealt with that, I assume that junk simply doesn't exist on your car.

Everyone says it's pretty simple. I am taming my frustration. First step is to test how much vacuum the pump is creating. So, I can do that and we'll go on from there. Pics and all.

Check the pump. Eliminate all but the shut off circuit, work your way back from the shutoff pod on the IP with the mighty vac. Its really easy to get the brown vac lines backwards at the ignition switch.

Compared to electronics, vacuum is pretty dead simple. Ask me how I feed about the electronically controlled trans in my Eurovan.

I do see that there is some lines disconnected from that first feed. what should it go to?

There doesn't seem to be anything connected to the second tee on the brake booster? It's probably where the brown shutoff line from the cabin goes.

The yellow pod is your locks.

locks are not part of the shutoff circuit.
There isn't anything hooked to that tee. I refer to that as the first tee after the vac pump makes the vacuum. Not as the second tee from the brake booster. As per my last post.

Well Vacuum is measured in Inches of mercury (in hg) not pressure. When you say 22psi, you mean 22" ... 24" is about the most you'll see so your pump is doing just fine.

That is an interesting vacuum line to the brake booster. There definitely shouldn't be any open holes or vacuum will never be achieved by the pump.

Normally, both connections to the main Vac line are at one spot with two different sized orifices... I dunno whats up with yours but you can see in the crappy pic of mine that the second line connection (closest to brake booster) is used solely for the shutoff circuit. It goes into the cab via the brown line and comes back out via the brown line which goes to the shutoff. EDIT May have this mixed up too Tongue

The line closest to the pump (first connection) Tees and goes to two things... 1. VCV with the inline Dashpot (that you are missing) and 2. down to the trans modulator (I think)

Then out of the bottom of the VCV you have both lines that go into the car, Green w/ yellow stripe and black.

NOTE: I may have the black lines mixed up, Everything is apart on both cars right now. Just try different combinations until the everything works right.... shifts and stuff.

At least this will get your car to shut off.

That pic looks like the 4 way at the top of your VCV has 2 openings not connected at all. Is that right?

Also, I have that green yellow stripe but no black is around. Have mine looking similar, we'll see how this trip to the grocery store goes.
Jackpot!, Thanks for your help. Next project is either getting new wiper sprayers or cleaning them or figuring out why the blower/heater works only like 10% of the time.

You posted this pic up in your first pic. All mercedes use the same color codes for the vacuum line and in your pic you can see the various lines are marked and on the RH side is list of the colors .Your ignition switch should have two lines,1 brown,1 brown wih a tracer signifying that is for the fuel shut off.
