diesels have no need for a blow off valve since there is no throttle body

In general blow off valves aren't need on diesels and the wastegate will handle everything just fine. ( The exception being to prevent surge during shifts if the turbo isn't sized and matched right).

Ok thanks. That's what I was thinking since the w140's don't have them.

It would be very hard to hook one up! since there is no throttle body there is no direct vacuum source to open the blow off valve

It's main purpose is to dump the excess pressure so the turbo docent slow down during shifts on an engine when the throttle plate is closed

we have no need since there is no throttle clogging up the works

Yes and no. How much boost you going to run?

There are alot of Mercedes diesels with factory recirculate valves and controllers.

We put on on a friends ford 6.0 because the vgt turbo isn't fast enough to respond when letting off.

So then what's the part that seems to work like a blow off, on the inlet part of the turbo on 86,87 om603 engines?
I don't know how much psi I will run. I'm going to start at 18 psi and work my way up so to get it perfect.

That would be the factory recirculation valve. Although it's not used for that. I keep forgetting what it was for though... they keep adding and removing it (there in 85, gone in 86, there in 87, gone later...).
