battery cable gauge?
Thanks to my last car's demise I have a second battery.
I was looking into some cable on amazon and wonder what is the gauge I should use for that 15+ft run to the trunk?
I don't even know the order is it?

Just that stretch of cable is kinda high for me I would hope to do it for under $40. I have plenty of terminal connectors and short bits of cable.

For under 40$? Go to the junk yard and fun a BMW 540 an yank its battery cable.
Get a set of jumper cables, should be long enough.

I would suggest a minimum of #2 AWG, 1/0 being prime. Also, if this were a battery relocation, you should also run a negative cable. But, being as this is a second battery, you "can" use the vehicle frame/body as your negative. Make sure to clean the body/frame connection point to bare metal, use bolt, nut, washer & "Star washer". Then grease it up or use some form of corrosion block. Also, run a new larger negative between battery, frame/body & engine block for optimum performance. Make sure to use fine stranded cable due to vibration.
As for sourcing out the cable, look up electrical, marine, electronic surplus outlets in your area. You may try checking with local welders in your area for old arc welding wires, but be sure to get some with good insulation.

I put my battery in the trunk. There's a post in the projects section "Battery Relocation". For me, 15' would be a miracle. I used 1 gauge, and over 15' . If I was going to do it again, I would get 20'. 1 gauge can safely handle 200 amps, so you should be good with 1 gauge. Plus, I am getting Anderson connectors, 350 Amp to make the starter and solonoid a component so it easily quick connects.
