Cheapo EGT Gauge...?
Cheapo EGT Gauge...?
How about using a PID to indicate EGT?
These things are cheap on fleagay, like this one--

There's various functions one could be used as H2O/MeOH Injection above a certain temp....
Yup--Its 90-230V AC/DC power-source-driven, but I'm sure the actual device prob runs on 5-10V which wouldn't be hard to sort out considering the savings over an 'official' EGT gauge....
Just a thought.....
The expensive part is moreso the thermocouple.
I can get ungrounded K-type thermocouples all-day, every day for under $20.
PPE sells them for injection molding machines.
thats a neat option, it even has alarm functions!
im not the man for the job (not up on this type of electronics), but someone should put together a parts list.
Ive got one of these PID's for another totally unrelated project.
Ive cracked it open hoping to see if I could power it from a 5 or 12V supply, but it appears there's both Positive and Negative supply-rails to the main guts of the device....
I'm thinking a very small simple inverter to generate a hundred or so volts will run it happily. It quotes a supply of 80-250V AC or 80-360V DC input....
As to the thermocouple, It came supplied with a 'K' type anyway....
Just got This probe off fleagay--

So, when it gets here, I'm gonna have a play....
Same seller has This too--

--Which is Already 12V supply....
