Need thinner than stock prechamber rings
Need thinner than stock prechamber rings
So I put the thicker headgasket in my 617 engine, but I can't find any prechamber sealing rings that are thinner than the stock 2.0mm. I would like to put in a thinner sealing ring to get the prechamber back to its stock hight in relation to the piston. I asked a company for a quote to make a thinner sealing ring, and they wanted $20/each!! That seems a bit on the steep side for a sealing ring. Does anyone know where to get a thinner ring, or have the ability to machine a set to about 1.15mm thick? They seem to be really soft aluminum.
Thanks in advance!
Mail me one, I'll see what I can do. No promises it'll be done this year though...

Oh, I was going to do a short run of them, using one to get measurements.

I'll be shipping you out a sealing ring tomorrow at the latest. Thanks again!
No problem, how's 1/5th their price sound?
I'm flexible though, I might be wooed into doing it for random parts, a kudos, or just because, haha.
Holy crap that sounds awesome!! Let me know what random parts you might be looking for too! I'll probably need a total of 10 of these; 5 for my car, 5 more for what ever car I put my other copper headgasket on.
Look at this guy! I mean between 300D50 and Delivery Valve .... Awesome!
If anyone else is doing a thicker head gasket, please post in here asap so we can figure out how many of these to make. Thanks again 300D50!!
These were from yesterday, but the network was being flaky so I couldn't access my gallery...
Two sets of 1.15's, and the original out towards the right
The blue is a windows 7 login screen (no, it's not my personal machine... I run Debian...)
The 1.25's will be getting finished today if all goes well.
This car-porn break brought to you by, machines! They do the work so you don't have to!
Those are sexy! You know, in a car-porn sort of way.

I'll be honest, I'm a little worried about that as well.
Biohazard and I decided to try it anyways, and hope the surfaces involved are parallel enough to work.
The idea is to torque them in stages, up to the FSM's specified value.
Yeah, much like the thicker headgasket, I'm ok with being the guinea pig. I've got the special tool for the prechamber collar being shipped; this will help with getting the torque correct.
Again, you've come through with a great tip. Thanks!! Waiting for multiple packages now...
Got two packages here now! One box of sealing ring goodies and one box with the lock collar tool!! Woot! I know what I'm doing Sat after work!!
Hercules, what type of sealer did you use? I have some of the spray copper sealer I used with my copper headgasket, think that would do the trick?
The ones with 2 sharpie marks are thicker IIIRC.
Sorry about the burrs on the ID...
I can get the burrs off. No problems there. I've got a caliper, I can check the thickness to make sure too.
^^^ I had forgotten about that. But, I also have 3 and a halfish MB diesels in the family, so having my own is good. Plus, I'm a tool whore.

Doing the tapered entrance to the PC holes. I have a spare from a parts engine I practiced on the other day. Really easy to cut with a carbide bit and some cutting oil.
Didn't have a chance to work on this on Saturday. Just about finished the adapter to pull the prechambers tonight though. Need to make one more groove for clearance and then it should be ready.
