They didn't take/break anything, but WTF? I guess my beat up ole' benz looked like I might keep something of worth inside...

I must not have checked all the doors to make sure they were locked (thank you leaky door vacuum system). I went out and noticed some paper on the ground by the car so I went to pick it up, looked inside and the glove box was open. They had kinda tossed stuff around in the car, nothing really to take anyways just had some tissues and random audio cables in the car.

Thieves sure are stupid sometimes though... there was $20 worth of quarters in rolls in the glove box so they must not have seen them. They tossed almost everything out of the glove box so I'm not sure how they missed them but whatever! Didn't even touch my stereo either.

Sorry just had to vent. My truck has been broken in to (literally, it was the pass window Sad ) before and they didn't take anything that was really worth money. That was also a time where they missed the "treasure". I had my Nikon D80 SLR in the truck Rolleyes Stupid thieves!

yikes! I have had that happen too, left my 300D open and had some kids take my CD wallet, but not the stereo, GPS, radar detector, ect.

I go back and forth between just leaving doors open and nothing of value in the car, and locking it up all tight.

On one hand, potential less damage to the car itself if someone can just open a door, but it makes it easier for them to try and take the car itself, and of course, if they are unobservant, they break a window anyway. Big Grin

Had some fools break out both the driver and passenger front windows on my volvo way back, stab a crow bar into the climate control, rock it back and forth to free the stereo, and then NOT take the wiring to the stereo?

Idiots, caused maximum damage for minimum gain. Car was open anyway. Stereo was 80 bucks from walmart years earlier new. Looked online and plug alone to match that stereo would be 50 bucks.

Sorry if you left something in the car worth stealing its not the thieves that are stupid.

I've learned long ago. Its generally cheaper to leave the doors unlocked and windows rolled down.

I do have to say living on a dirtroad has its advantages then

Being in a more rural area is nice for that reason. Probably why people don't break in to stuff in rural areas more often is I would bet a majority of homeowners have guns. If you're in a rural area and disappear it might be too late when/if people realize you're missing Tongue

But then again a dumb thieve probably wouldn't put all this together Tongue

There was a guy in NY who had his hood ornament stolen 3 time in the same parking garage so he got a jeweler to sharpen ever angle on it razor sharp and replated it to look stock

He said he came out one day and there was blood all over the front of his car and drips leading away
it never got stolen after that

Not broken into, but someone at my apartment was vandalizing my car for about a week straight, nails under the tires, lit cigarette on the trunk that burned the paint, drinks poured on it repeatedly. Stopped immediately after I started walking in and out with a hunting rifle every day.

1981 Mercedes-Benz 300SD | 156K Miles | 2nd Owner | EGR Disabled [Removal Pending] | ALDA Removed | Straight Pipes | GT2256V??? | Laser Interceptor | Engine swap over summer, hopefully with GT2256V attached...

1981 Mercedes-Benz 300SD | Odo Stopped at 160K (at least 50K more) | EGR Disabled | ALDA All The Way Out | Straight pipes | FM-870 Remote Start Alarm System | B100 Biodiesel | AC Fixed x2 | Trunk crushed in Sad | Retired to garage.

I leave my doors unlocked for two reasons. One is cause those windows are expensive. The second is cause the door locks don't work. lol.
