As far as adjusting the pump you may get a little more power but not much! and it will hurt M.P.G's

You can adjust the timing to get a little more power and slightly better fuel economy

(10-13-2011, 11:52 PM)Purplecomputer hey guys, Ive been reading up alot lately on IP adjustment and mods that allow more fuel for better performance.

Now i know what im asking could very well be a dumb question but is this possible for my 240D?

Of course it is possible. Many arguments have been fought over 240D power improvements, but there are a couple of us that have posted on various forums what we have done to our 240Ds and the results.

Most recent is a gentleman that gained 30% more speed, based on a repetitive hill climb, and recently completed a 600 mile trip where he maintained his 31MPG to boot.

Even 10 more MPH at the end of a highway entrance ramp is worth the trouble. Been there, done that.

The main adjustments are “inside” the governor, and although there is some room for additional fuel, the goal is to delay the reduction of fueling by the governor as the engine speed increases.

Exclamation

Your last statement is not a good match for an older MB diesel as they require lots of maintenance.

If this is the car that you want to sell, I would seriously recommend you sell it and get something else that is not so maintenance intense. Not to be rude or anything, but this is not a good "learning" car.

That being said, I am not sure about the etiquette regarding linking other forums.

You can adjust the timing to get a little more power and slightly better fuel economy

It's near the end of this thread, by 47dodge. Non of these mods are easy btw, adjusting the pump, modifying prechambers, slapping a turbo on it, etc.

Ive been reading through some of the links and there is some good info on these forums but i simply do not have the time to make these kinds of mod, its not my skill just i dont have time. I think i will drive the car the way it is, get her pretty and sell her at the end of the semester. If anyone is interested in her keep in touch with me.

(10-15-2011, 08:37 PM)carlitosgy6 Im sure if its an Honda civic he will keep it and work on it

EDIT: No, im not a fan of Civics or hondas. Im more of a TDI guy myself. I would love to get a Golf TDI 5spd, then I would make time to work on it Wink

Im sure you were trying to be funny, but in the end its what makes you happy and this car does not make me happy but hopefully it will bring happiness to someone else.

what the hell is that supposed to mean? I hate hondas and i really dont like smart asses like you.
the first thing you need to do before talk to me like that is asking what i supposed to mean, and then after the answer write whatever you want, first, you are going to college, right?what car do you prefer between an old merc and a honda civic 94 to pick a gorgeous lady to go out?the civic works better in this area and its like a hundred times faster than the 4 cyl n/a merc, second the merc is a pain in the ass for somebody that works with cars for years like me,this kind of cars in the wrong hands is a time bomb waiting to strand you in the road at 2:30 am after you end partying,a civic its easy but you need to love a mercedes diesel to have one and enjoy it,and have a lot of guts to fix it when something big and complicated goes wrong, thats my explanation,i think its not offensiveShy
