Sssooooo whos got an om603 head for me?
Sssooooo whos got an om603 head for me?
So yup. pretty sure my head is cracked. :/
I have to pull it off first but its eating my coolant i think. i will have random start ups where its alot of white smoke. then other start ups it wont have nearly as much
got rid of the water and put the zerex g 05 in. so im not doing anymore harm. as far as coolant.
but yea...hope to god its just a blown head gasket or valve seals or idk. w/e lol
ill probably need a head
I would take the it to a machine shop. I blowen a head gasket on a gas jap car before. It wasn't crack but just warped. I wouldn't drive it in fear of it cracking. Is it a steel head? I thought that steel heads are impossible to crack (someone told me that before, they could of been wrong). Hope you just warp it .
My head gasket went south so fast it was hydro locking #2 cyl lol
Have you pulled it yet? Or is it still on the block?

still on the block. cant pull it untill a few weekend from now.
will running the motor only fuck it more? guess ill have to restrain from running it lol.

Don't run it. Bad things will happen. If its not crack then running it will crack it. Just don't run it, pull in, take it to a shop, give them 50-100 bucks to clean and to see if its crack.
wtf. 50-100 to clean. ill do it my self with hard labor. i dont have that kinda extra cash lol.
Nah. I had mine plain (1.6 gasser) done tested, cleaned and plained down for 85 bucks.
hmm.. well we will see. still gonna hope its a blown head gasket lol
I hope so too! Best of luck
btw. 9 posts. i may be a tad late but welcome to the forum!
They just active my account today. I been watching this forum for over a month now
I have been driving my car with a cracked head for a year now I just keep topping off the coolant every few weeks
The biggest tell tale is if the radiator hoses stay pressurized over night Evan after the engine has cooled off!
While its running the compression can push through the crack and pressurize the cooling system over night the pressure pushes a little coolant back through the crack in to the cylinders
personally I release the pressure on the cooling system after I turn off the engine and it has not gotten worse
But do you get water in your oil?
no water in my oil as far as i can tell.
and i heard about the radiator thing but it cools off and its definitely not pressurized over night. so thats why im kind of annoyed. no idea whats going on lol.
Yea my car after it cool down the hoses are rock hard until I let the pressure out
check in the morning to see if the exhaust smell like burning antifreeze!
Diesels can smoke white from unburned fuel in one or more cylinders like a bad glow plug or weak compression!
My car smoke white in the morning until it warms up a bit but its defiantly not antifreeze
yea. its being a pain in the ass to diagnose.
Are you still needing that head?
no idea. i have to diagnose it first. havent been able to do a compression test or a leakdown test.
a small crack in the head wont affect leak down or compression
what would it affect then? cuz theres not fluid mixing as far as i can tell.
That dont really mean much in my mind.
