Hi guys

I have no thingy usually seen on OM617 84 considering
vacuum lines,... and only one line goes down to trans..

what's wrong with this picture?

a... .303 trans works fine ...Angel

in case you don't "loose" vac on the valves on the valve cover and the line down to the tranny is connected to the vac valve on the IP (there are some orifice) everything is fine.
The valves on top of the valve cover are for EGR (and IIRC, for modulating the shifts depending on temperature).
No more available new at MB, no need for proper operating of the tranny.

Hello Cho,

The item in your picture are the vacuum valves that sit on the valve cover and control the vacuum to the EGR valve. One valve looks after switching off the vaccum to the EGR at idle and the other switches it off at full throttle. Many people remove or disable the EGR valve as it can improve the shifting of the automatic. The latter is a huge topic unto itself. Please bear in mind that removing or disabling the EGR valve may have legal implications - depends how strick your country is on exhaust polution. :-)

The link below has some pictures that may help. It is a good site with very helpful information. The second link is to a thread on the MB US forum site (great site for MB owners). It also has quite a few pictures as well as links to other sites. The YouTube video has been disabled.
