I really wants these
http://www.ilovebodykits.com/product/747...9559_.html

But it says "Chasis: W126 6 cyl, V8, not diesel" which Im having a real hard time understanding. I got a 500 SEL parts car that I know for a fact they are the same springs all the way around. Unless Im dreaming that statement of not fitting a diesel is false. Anybody have any insight? Anybody used these?

im 99% sure they are the same springs but they havent tested it on a diesel model so they dont say it fits. the only other thing i can think of is perhaps the diesel motor in the front being heavier. but if its just a 617 i doubt itll be heavier than a v8

why not see if a local shop will install them and see what happens.

if they work, they work & report back.

i'd be interested to know ... H&R also makes a Touring Cup Kit.

I would bet they fit perfect.
Its just the weight of the cast iron block they're unsure about, just hasnt been tested on the diesel model.
I would go for it.

need Tech to weigh in here ...

what: I purchased a set of H&R sport springs (product code 29559) ... already installed front & rear sets of Bilsteins HDs.

Also purchased the spring shims in 3 sizes (small, medium and large).

Question: can i reliably use these W126 springs for my W116 vehicle that weighs 145 kg (318 lbs) more than what the W126 springs are advertised (built) for?

Yes? No? Issues?

... background:

... ... the W126 V8 long wheel base Benz weighs in at 1,670 kg (3,682 lb).
... ... ... my W116 turbo diesel benz weighs in at 1,815 kg (4,000 lb)

yes, i've contacted the spring manufacturer ... they say the W126 springs won't work with W116s ...

Rear springs:v

126.039 <(560SEL) & 126.045 - 115 324 27 04 or 123 324 06 04

Note...I did call H&R they put me thru to a tech, he said the kit we're talking about has been around for 20+ years...he didn't know why they weren't "approved" for the diesels...said they either never tested them on the diesels or they DID and there was some other reason like because of the weight difference, they might not have gotten as much lowering as specified and therefor weren't made an official product avail for the diesel powered w126's. He did say that if there are people out there who have done it and it works so be it.

So...looking up an 1985 SEL on hrspring dot com

So it's CONCIEVEABLE - altho NOT DEFINITE that you MIGHT be able to use these springs / shocks in a 300SD, the non-self leveling of course.

And that the pricing we get here on PP is good

What a gamble to take....

Anyone done it?

Whats best solution? Bilstiens and Lesjofers?
