larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?
A hall effect sensor at the crank should be fairly easy to convert to another car, you will need the sensor, the pin sticking out of the harmonic dampener, a tach amplifier, and a gauge to receive the signal. I don't know the details, that's just a good general starting point
If you don't mind doing a hackjob, cheap motorcycle gauge clusters can be used-they sometimes come with a magnet and hall effect sensor to install

Alternator driven tacho is the easiest I think

Yes on the W terminal & you have to get a tacho that connects to the W terminal.

(they are vdo and are still available)
btw, where does the rev counter connect to on the 606a with mechanical pump ?

if the rev counter is there and the car was petrol the green and yellow wire should be connected into a terminal block mounted on the inner wing located near the windscreen washer pumps the 606a should have a hall sensor picking up the tabs on the flex plate or flywheel it is located on the bellhousing on the engine block next to the oilfilter housing it has two wires one is a bare screen and an inner green core connect the green inner to the green and yellow and the other to the brown wire (earth) on the termination block the rev counter should now work if it wildly overreads it may be a diesel tacho which needs only one pulse rather than 3 i had to trim 3 tabs off my fw to get it correct which i was able to do with a tiny cutting disc on a dremel through the window in the sump for undoing the bolts on the torque converter.

(03-01-2012, 01:52 PM)huseyin55amgi have had my 460 lwb since 2004 ,it is a 1989 model it is in mint condition but the 280 petrol engine was a joke whatever way you look at it fitting a detuned sports car engine in a heavy 4x4 is just going to be a hopeless combination it drank fuel and to add insult to injury was badly underpowered .(02-26-2012, 03:44 PM)diesel2fast4u(02-26-2012, 01:27 PM)huseyin55amg please excuse me, but whats the w terminal

very valuable info mate , thanks !! my g was a 230 ges . 1987 model . i recently sold the rev counter thinking that it would not work with on a diesel engine i had a na 603 fitted before this 606a and my mate connected to the alternator i think but it was irratic !! i wish i had not sold it now... i will investigate this now.
how long have you had the G ? mick the digger from ireland is the only guy i know the uk that has a 606a in 460 G . are you a member of gwoa or the clubwagen forum? if not i would advice you joined and shared your thoughts and project.

hi there axel. it seems you know exactly what your talking about ! did you do all the work yourself ? i am really impressed . i also fitted the 606a into my cabrio almost 3 years ago now. mine is a lhd cabrio hence why the conversion was quite straight forward. they are a great engine and really transform the driving pleasure of the 460 . infact i plan on fitting the same engine into my other G which has a 3 litre 103 petrol engine. nice engine and refined but no power when you jump out of the cabrio....
i was thinking of fitting the intercooler from a vito van which is readily available here in n cyprus. what oil cooler did you use ? could you post pics please of the G, engine bay oil/intercooler. would be a great help for future work. it be great if you joined in the clubwagen forum. your G is truely unique condition wise as well as modification wise. whats the transmission out of ? what clutch and plate did you use ? i also want to fit a 6 speed as i run 35 tires and also have the highest diff ratios available for the G [6.17] I am sure i could even run 7 gears.
can you share photos of the rev counter connection ?
so many questions to ask.. whats the noise like at 70 mph and over ? is it more refined than the original ?
my email is hus55@hotmail.co.uk . would appreciate to see photos of this beast.
kind regards hus55
