Yeah I am getting super confused Sad
I need help.

I am planning to pick up a mercedes 90-93 US version 2.5L turbo diesel

The issue I am having is getting this car mixed up with the EU version.

What are the specs for the USA version.
i am not sure to search 250td or 300td..

Main concern is the SOHC or DOHC.
if the USA one is a SOHC is there going to be issues if I get dieselmeken pump? On his videos he is using a om605 duel over head cam. and it is stock but added pump.

and what is the MPG difference from DOHC to SOHC if any..

thx let me know I asked Dieselmeken as well (waiting for reply) but would be great help to get info from people who know the US version/and bought US version.

The 90-93's are all SOHC engines.. Om602, and the 602 pumps can be rebuildt/adjusted like all others Smile

Thanks a lot.

but is high hp going to hurt the SOHC? or is the results and longevity same as DOHC?

Goren is a crazy mofo and is saying his new 7.5 pump will automatically give me 300-350HP+ just from stock setup!! so gotta be caution to make sure it will be ok on SOHC vs DOHC he put it on. lol!

I wont be driving it like a mad man, but I am concerned! And regard the trans.. I already know what to expect. 5 or 6 spd manual swap one day.

In the us Om602 was the only 5cyl. Sohc motor available in the 90s 300chassis. The dohc motor you are talking about is the om605 5chl motor available in Europe only.

Buy the pump don't have to worry about the motor internal wise with that kind of power. Worry about adding better components turbo, IC, ect. And worry about the auto tranny.

Mb 1984 w201 om603 swap.
Mb 1986 w201 190E 2.3-16v

Thats excellent! Thanks for the info.

because in the 3000gt/dodge stealth/GTO world we have a SOHC engine and it sucks and no one mods them cause they cant handle power.

And DOHC is king

and if you have the Twin Turbo DOHC model with upgraded turbos the massive HP/TQ output is astonishing.

and awesome your an hour away from me!
Any one know what power/psi the stock turbo is good for before it gets to critical failure? and IC, ect. I am probably going to have to make a thread when I buy the Merc and name it

Bought 2.5L TD Merc, where do i start modding for more POWA and efficiency!

The engine block needs no mods, it can hold pretty much anything a normal working man can afford giving it Tongue
If you can supply the engine with enough (cold) air, this engine should give you 300whp easily..
You will need a better exhaust system, all the way! Large intercooler, and a turbo properly sized.. The intake manifold needs work, since the intake is facing a rather odd direction..

As for the tranny, i replaced my filter and swapped the oil for some mineral gear oil made for ford trannys.. "type g".. and restricted the vacuum hose to the tranny, further you can turn the oil pressure up, by turning a T shaped thing at the side of the tranny.. now it will shift hard as hell, but it wount die Smile
The vacuum hose can be run through a valve, so you can turn the worst "hardness" on and off Smile

Thx. will consider this all Big Grin

what is the stock turbos peak power. Reason being sometimes stock isn't always bad. especially if its in good shape.

example.

Stock Small 9B turbos/Stock Engine/no juice/e85(pump gas)/only massive weight reduction/mods.^^^
