I have this very nice modified turbo I purchased from another forum member a while ago, and im trying to wedge it into my 115 engine bay. he says it was a T3/T4 hybrid

I have found a way to get it in there in essentially the same orientation as it was in the previous forum members car, but I need to alter a few things, and my knowledge on turbos is pretty basic

First thing I will need to do is re-clock this outlet pipe to approximately the same direction as the exhaust inlet pipe-

Is this something as simple as it seems? can I just unbolt this and rebolt it in the right direction?

2nd question is about the wastegate. If I can get this whole apparatus in another location, I will really open up some space for me to work with. Limited at the moment-

Im leery to alter this because he had it dialed in, but if I can get it kind of in front of the outlet pipe on a completely different bracket, that will gain me almost 2 inches of vertical space.

Right now I would have to cut a hole in the hood

well there's two things. fortunately the housing is bolted and not c cliped. so. you can easily unbolt the compressor housing and clock the housing as you please.

then the waste gate will just bolt to the hole that is there after your done clocking. they are the same distance from each other i believe there are 6 or so? but yea youll have no problem

As he said the compressor housing is very simple.

The wastegate however is a pain, I don't see how you could really relocate it, unless you bought another one that has a straight rod and used another bracket/drilled some mounting holes.

If you really wanted to get crazy you could weld that wastegate shut, and get rid of that assembly all together, and use an external wastegate. Then you could clock the turbo any way you want

1984 300D 4-speed ~200,000 miles
7.5mm M-pump, GT3582 turbo, F-Tune Performance intake/exhaust manifolds, A/A intercooler, 315 nozzles, Enlarged prechambers, Bosch 044 feed pump, Custom lightweight flywheel with 240mm clutch, Lowered, 17" AMG rims - 300 hp OM617 project
1985 300D 280,000 miles RIP
2001 F350 7.3 DP tuner, 4"exhaust, S&B intake

Can you post another photo from the back of the turbo? It looks like thr wastegate assembly is bolted to the back of the turbo and can be clocked with the 4 bolts...

larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?

You can clock it easy enough, I was under the impression that he wanted to relocate it for space

Ill post another pic when back, down at little sisters wedding at moment.

Basically, I do want to relocate wastegate actuator to drop the turbo in the engine bay so as to clear the hood

1983 240D 616 stock, DD
1989 Chevy Astro, 617 turbo swap, T5 5-speed, 4.56 diff, work van

MOST compressor housings can be re-clocked by simply LOOSENING the bolts and rotating it around to where ever you want Wink

Depending on where you need the actuator to be Drop, you might be able to modify the bracket, or make a new bracket for it. You could even weld a bracket onto the wastegate shaft so the actuator is on the exhaust side instead of the compressor side... Wink

1982 300D Turbo ... 3,6xxlbs, No fan, No AC, Hood Stack, No ALDA, No rear bumper and stuffed front, A/W Intercooled, Injectors by Greezer and HUGE Pre-Chambers with help from OM616 & Simpler=Better, Fuel Cranked up, 60 Trim Compressor wheel, EGT, EMP, Boost 50" Rigid Radius bar on roof Aux tank for a total of 48 Gal Of Diesel! Odyssey PC-1750 Battery in trunk, 27"x8.5"/R14 Maxxis BigHorn Mud Terrains, In June '14 issue of Off Road Mag

heres more pics of it-

im going to just pull the acutator off and get the thing under the hood. Then figure out where the actuator will fit. you all have emboldened me. Big Grin

Couldn't you mount it anywhere within a fairly straight line of where it is, and then just use a longer arm?

-1982 300D Turbo, 280k miles, ALDA apparently maxxed, fram 8038, 12 lbs boost, non-egr manifolds, W/M injection, 4 brake light mod, Gen II w126 front rotors/calipers, 4-speed swap
In the works: A/W IC, adjust pump, turbo rebuild (w/60 trim comp wheel)
-1980 300SD, 110k, project car. Goal is to get it lookin' like it did on the showroom floor (body and interior wise, not necessarily under the hood )
-1974 240D, FRESH PAINT!!!!!!
