Altering turbo question
Altering turbo question
I have this very nice modified turbo I purchased from another forum member a while ago, and im trying to wedge it into my 115 engine bay. he says it was a T3/T4 hybrid
I have found a way to get it in there in essentially the same orientation as it was in the previous forum members car, but I need to alter a few things, and my knowledge on turbos is pretty basic
First thing I will need to do is re-clock this outlet pipe to approximately the same direction as the exhaust inlet pipe-
Is this something as simple as it seems? can I just unbolt this and rebolt it in the right direction?
well there's two things. fortunately the housing is bolted and not c cliped. so. you can easily unbolt the compressor housing and clock the housing as you please.
then the waste gate will just bolt to the hole that is there after your done clocking. they are the same distance from each other i believe there are 6 or so? but yea youll have no problem
As he said the compressor housing is very simple.
The wastegate however is a pain, I don't see how you could really relocate it, unless you bought another one that has a straight rod and used another bracket/drilled some mounting holes.
If you really wanted to get crazy you could weld that wastegate shut, and get rid of that assembly all together, and use an external wastegate. Then you could clock the turbo any way you want
larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?
Can you post another photo from the back of the turbo? It looks like thr wastegate assembly is bolted to the back of the turbo and can be clocked with the 4 bolts...

You can clock it easy enough, I was under the impression that he wanted to relocate it for space
Ill post another pic when back, down at little sisters wedding at moment.
Basically, I do want to relocate wastegate actuator to drop the turbo in the engine bay so as to clear the hood
Dont want to think i am hijacking... can i reclock a kkk turbo as well?
MOST compressor housings can be re-clocked by simply LOOSENING the bolts and rotating it around to where ever you want
Depending on where you need the actuator to be Drop, you might be able to modify the bracket, or make a new bracket for it. You could even weld a bracket onto the wastegate shaft so the actuator is on the exhaust side instead of the compressor side...
heres more pics of it-
im going to just pull the acutator off and get the thing under the hood. Then figure out where the actuator will fit. you all have emboldened me.
Couldn't you mount it anywhere within a fairly straight line of where it is, and then just use a longer arm?
