Oh No!
Oh No!
After getting back from a month long vacation, I go to fire up my 87 300TD and there is a big pool of ATF on the floor, oh no! Theres probably about three quarts and I cant see where its coming from but I suspect its the pan gasket. I havent run it and the dipstick shows its more than full.
Should I just have the car towed to the shop, because I dont know how much fluid to add and I dont want to run it with the level so low. Any andvice would be great. Thanks.

My dads 83 300d pan gasket leaks also when it sits for a few months. If you top it off and drive it it wont leak for a month or two. it looks like it coming from the pan gasket on his car we just start it up and put in neutral and top off like normal
You said it was over full right? So why would it need fluid?
I would just drain it and change the filter/gasket and put in new fluid, that way you know it has the right amount, and a new filter and gasket to boot!

Start it up so the fluid refill's the transmission and then it will show that its low. It wont hurt it if its low as long as you don't drive it that way
