Hi everyone,

Another dumb question...
I have a possibilitie to buy a fine w124 TD turbo. The only problem is the damaged engine. Block cracked.

Is it possible to weld it with good fiability?

Can i use a NA engine and use the manifolds and turbo of the damaged engine? This is ok or the NA engine is not identical (like OM617)

Best Regards,
Carlos

The only real difference is the rods/pistons are weaker in the NA

1987 300SDL 6spd manual om606.962 swap project
1985 300td euro 5spd wagon running

Why is the block cracked? still running? leaking water/oil? Or do you have a hole from a broken rod?
Try to answer this questions and it will be easier to tell you if you can fix it?
