Hey everyone!

Mercedes Benz Club Romania will take part in this year's Brasov Classic rally with several w123s and possibly a w116.

Brasov Classic Rally is a yearly event taking place in... uhm, Brasov, which is in the historic region of Transylvania! We'll most likely pass by "Dracula's Castle" (just to give you a very known 'landmark').

This is a regularity rally for older-than-30-years cars - so speed is not important. However, we do have quite some distance to cover - around 320 miles in total.

I will compete with my 1977 w123 300D which you guys already know.

Pics and news will be posted on this topic. The event takes place at the end of this month - June 29/30.

I haven't had anything done to the car, as they should all be in original factory condition - except for checking and sorting the IP and injectors, new engine rubber mounts (the left one was badly worn out due to fuel dripping on it - classic story) and a new alternator belt.

I should revamp the front brakes and possibly change the driveshaft's u joint, but we'll see...

That sounds like a blast!!

-1982 300D Turbo, 280k miles, ALDA apparently maxxed, fram 8038, 12 lbs boost, non-egr manifolds, W/M injection, 4 brake light mod, Gen II w126 front rotors/calipers, 4-speed swap
In the works: A/W IC, adjust pump, turbo rebuild (w/60 trim comp wheel)
-1980 300SD, 110k, project car. Goal is to get it lookin' like it did on the showroom floor (body and interior wise, not necessarily under the hood )
-1974 240D, FRESH PAINT!!!!!!

This has been a very fun and good experience - Regularity Rallies are really sweet!

It wasn't about speed, you had to go from point A to point B in exactly X minutes (usually more than 150 minutes) FLAT. A minute under or over - and that was a penalty.

On the way you had special trials where you had to cover a few miles in a few minutes, down to the second. FLAT.

Very fun!

We had 4 w123s in the end from our Mercedes Benz Club, one of them being yours truly.

While the odometer on my car did not work (at all, neither the total nor the partial one) - I did have the speedo work, and a stop watch. As I couldn't figure out much at the special trials, I did the best I could.

(E.g. cover 2.3 miles in 300 seconds FLAT - I could measure 300 seconds, but wasn't sure about how much 2.3 miles are...)

All in all, I got third place at less than a second from second place. Right Wink

Haven't seen any pics anywhere, as soon as I find some I shall return with photographic evidence.

I was a passenger in the DS for about 100 miles or so...

Very very smooth ride, and a dashboard that pretty much rules! A LOT of class, and excellent lighting.

I still like the w123 better, but the DS was simply put a DS. Please take into account that the lights swiveled with the steering in corners. Pure magic!

Classic Regularity Rallies are extremely nice - I'm not sure if they're more of an European thing or not - but I have a deep desire deep down...

Monte Carlo Classic Rally 2013. w123. 280E.

Let's see if that can become a reality. Monte Carlo was, and still is a legend.

Its all about the Citroen 2CV Sahara!!!!

However I still like the w123 best... Angel

(plus, its very hard to find a good 2CV Sahara, whereas w123 are plentiful.)
