Any good junkyard finds lately??
Thought I was about to score a 5 speed out of a w123 240D or 300D N/A (can't remember what it was exactly) but it just ended up being a 4 speed that somebody put a 5 speed shifter on, since I could only shift it into 1,2,3,4, and reverse.
Anyway, just wondering if anybody else has had any good finds at the junkyard lately??
-1982 300D Turbo, 280k miles, ALDA apparently maxxed, fram 8038, 12 lbs boost, non-egr manifolds, W/M injection, 4 brake light mod, Gen II w126 front rotors/calipers, 4-speed swap
In the works: A/W IC, adjust pump, turbo rebuild (w/60 trim comp wheel)
-1980 300SD, 110k, project car. Goal is to get it lookin' like it did on the showroom floor (body and interior wise, not necessarily under the hood )

08-24-2012, 08:13 PM #1Had a pretty good day at the junkyard today, despite it being like 100*F out and not finding any of the stuff I went there for, still made out okay. Managed to score a set of euro w124 headlamps with clear corners, and a single round H4 lamp that I'm sure I can find a use for. Also found a couple w123's with very good condition brown interior that I may go back for, a w115 220D with red interior, and a bunch of other neat stuff.

Got ANOTHER 25mm sway bar from a wagon and I got a PRISTINE Palamino passenger seat, 6-pleats. When I say pristine, I mean too good to be true. I am waiting for some sort of insect swarm to pop out of it and invest my garage ...LOL.

Hit the yard yesterday in Georgia. A looonnng 180 mile round trip.

10-21-2012, 11:40 AM #4Well, there's a W123 coupe near me with something rare: a rear window which has not delaminated. The yard wants under $100 for it too. But I have no place to store it.
