Well they don't build them how they used to. Or maybe they never did in asia Wink
I swapped some pads on a 2007 civic today. Caught a glimpse of the stamped tin control arms Wink
Makes me remember that these old benz are better than most of the cars built in the last 20 yrs.
Fucking love this tank.

Rusted out beat down 300d turbo 82' -- RIP
Nice body, tons of ridiculous mechanical issues - 300d turbo 82' /motor 85'

Stamped? No wonder I have never seen a Civic that is more than about 8 or 9 years old

-1982 300D Turbo, 280k miles, ALDA apparently maxxed, fram 8038, 12 lbs boost, non-egr manifolds, W/M injection, 4 brake light mod, Gen II w126 front rotors/calipers, 4-speed swap
In the works: A/W IC, adjust pump, turbo rebuild (w/60 trim comp wheel)
-1980 300SD, 110k, project car. Goal is to get it lookin' like it did on the showroom floor (body and interior wise, not necessarily under the hood )
-1974 240D, FRESH PAINT!!!!!!

it was made of like 2 or 3 pieces of stamped steel that were welded together. I'm sure it's strong enough and light and small and cheap.
But I prefer the tank.

Stamped isn't that bad, my Ranger has a CAST IRON "hub base" (the part between the A arms that holds the hub). The ball join instructions say in big letters, DO NOT HAMMER OR PRY ON THE CAST PIECE.

Yes I'm saving up for tubular aftermarkets.

larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?

Hardly fair since Honda don't have any cars or engines that are eligible for the DTM . They compete very successfully in the BTC though.

Stamped suspension arms have been common since the 90s on most manufacturers cars. What they bolt to is welded stamped steel so what's the difference? I have never known any to fail other than the joints wearing out.

I guess it's not bad. Them kalashnikovs are made of stamped out steel and people love them. I thought it was an adequate solution for the piece. Just that it looked kinda tinker toy.
ditto on that DTM thing. How in the fuck would a jap car race in a race specifically for german cars???
