606 head gasket on a 603
606 head gasket on a 603
When installing the MLS gasket from a 606 on a 603 besides from modifying a couple of holes what torque specs do I use? the 606 or 603 ones?
they are the same, my advice is to put on a 603 gasket, you will have problems with mls, due to the "expand creeks" or what to call them betwen the cylinders. combustion leaks in to them when using mls and you get pressure in water system =no good
Here are some pictures of my modified 606 gasket installed on a 603
Sorry for some reason It didn't post.
The copper stuff is head gasket spray, don't worry about the over-spray on the pistons I cleaned that afterwards.

has anyone tried a copper gasket on 603 or 606?
what gasket you recommend for 606(standard mls?)

One guy here in finland tried a copper gasket and its much worse than om606 gasket it didnt work at all. For 606 you should put original gasket. But there is same problem that is with 603 engine. Head and block both need to be extremely straight or gasket wont hold pressure. You could put copper clue on both sides of the gasket to get better chance to succeed.

(08-31-2012, 04:15 PM)mantahead hi,
do you guys run standard compression ratio?
Whats the advantages of lower CR apart from running more boost?

Has anyone tried this before me with any success? I glued the gasket down as well as disassembling the gasket and gluing each layer. I can't see why it would not work it works for the 606 with success.
it doesent work because 603 has "expand" creeks betwen the cylinders wich is the engine coolant water, and some of the compression leaks betwen cylinders and the coolant gets pressurized. 606 doesn´t have those "creeks" so theay usualy to get some leak betwem cylinders but it doesn´t matter on them
