W126 HD Springs
W126 HD Springs
Has anyone used the OEM heavy duty rear springs on a 300SD? Mine are sagging just a bit and seem a little too soft for my kind of driving. I already installed the Bilstein HD shocks on all corners. My only concern is that perhaps these springs will sit unusually high or will be bouncy without extra load in the rear.
Any advice is appreciated.
what are the differences in the shims from front to back ? the shims on partsgeek say for the rear only ? with that said
aaa, were the springs you used the Lesjofors HD springs from parts geek? how did they ride ?
im looking at hd bilstiens and those springs but i might just buy the h&r kit for an 84 ? i would like a little lower with out hacking coils (not cool)

thanks aaa, so you diddnt get to see/feel them settle ?
thanks DV again for chiming in. i wasnt sure about these coils ,my exp under car has exposed me to some hack jobs , down right scary stuff , springs falling out of cars on lift etc
the mercedes springs are linear correct ? my concern with cutting the dead coils was if they will need a taper into the seat . even though its at the base of the spring , i dont like sending heat through springs . in your experience with cut benz springs have you seen any cracked or broken springs at the seats after cutting ? also how was the ride after as for as bottoming out ?
thanks again for all your input ,i tried to be as prepared as i can you help is greatly appreciated
The top coil of the Mercedes springs are flat and the upper perch is flat. Where else the bottom, the coil is cut at 90 degrees and the lower perch seat are sloped around to take into account the spring not being flat.
I have not seen or heard of anybody cracking cut springs from use. The ride is fine, I would imagine if you bottomed out, you would have cut too coils out.
Here is link to check out and do some other searching. More info is around.
